Cairns, The Land of Opportunity, to do Really Stupid Things

I think I told you all about the me going to go bunjy jumping for a whole day well I have done it. 11 jumps which means climbing 242 steps 11 times. It was not an easy day.

But there were not all normal face first jumps. You would be surprised at the different types of jumps you can do there.

First is the standard jumps that every one does, Not much to it but it gets the job done. Once you have finished that one you can move onto the backwards jump. I think the name does all of the explanation.

After that I the pendulum. This is where you back out on the the jumping plat form and one of the staff grabs your harness. Then he lowers you out until you are at about a 45 degree angel, then he lets go when you least expect it. Truly a fun rush.

Then next one is one of my personal favorites. It is called the Elevator. Again you back out on to the platform this time putting you hand on the back of you neck and then hopping off but keeping you head up and you body vertical. This way you get you see how fast you really are falling, and when you get to the end of the cord you get wiped around nicely.

The cliff hanger was one of the more challenging jumps. In this one you have to lay on you stomach and sort of crawl out onto the platform and inch your self off. That way you are hanging below the platform only holding on the it with the tips of your fingers. Then one chin up and push off.

There were a few more but I think that I most get the the best jump of the whole day. The Roof jump. In this jump I get on top of the roof (hence the name) that puts me about 3 meters above where the cord is attached to the tower. Then I back up on a ramp. Wait for the count down and then run like hell off the tower. Bloody amazing.

And if any of you are in disbelief that I would do all of this I have it all on tape.

The next day I will went on my 3 day 2 night Scuba dive trip. I will talk about it later. So stay tuned.

Scuse My While I Kiss the Sky

Sky diving truly is a wonderful trip. But it is nothing like I would have thought. Looking back on the whole adventure it seems really surreal. When I think about it it almost seems like a dream.

As we fly up to 12000 fee the first few jumpers go and then we climb up to 14000 feet and the rest of us start going. I was a little nervous but nothing much. As it came for my time to go I got strapped to my jumper and we got the the door of the plane.

As we jump you first have a sudden rush of adrenalin. But then it is over come with an almost euphoric sense of calmness. During the 65 second free fall, reaching speeds of about 200km/h, I could see for miles. To make things better the our jump was late in the day so as I went down I got the watch the sun set in the distance. Then finally we landed on the beach and a giant X.

Sky diving is a miraculous trips that everyone one has to try at least once. But if you really want a great big adrenalin rush you have to go bungy jumping.

Yesterday on my way up to Cairns I got to stop and try the bungy jump. Never before had I experienced such a big rush. After my head was spinning just a little. But again not that scared. (I know my of you think I am bullshitting you) To quote the people that work there "Wow, you look unnaturally calm." I guess I was never born with that all important instinct that keeps of from doing really stupid and risky things. Any one that really know me I think would agree.

Anyways I loved it some much that I will be heading back there some time this week to do as many bungy jumps as I can from 9am to 4pm, for only 50 dollars.

As for the rest of the week I will be trying to find a good dive company and then go diving for a few days and fly off to Japan.

The 31st is going to be the longest days I my life. My first flight is at 6am from Cairns and then I touch down in Tokyo 7:30am on the first. But you see the trick is my flight path is Cairns to Brisbane to Singapore to Tokyo. Its going to be a great day. (^_^)
